They had posted in the Osteopathic School-Specific Discussions subsection, so I'm assuming they're interviewing at an osteopathic medical school. It's just a general question, like some that pop up in Pre-medical MD, etc.
Sure, why not! For some reason I was expecting a guy posting about a purple suit.
This is much more ok.

I don't think it's going to hurt in anyway.

I think your purple suit is hella cute and imo is not unprofessional. It stands out in a good way. I hope you wear it 🙂

I wore a gray suit with a purple blouse, and a friend of mine wore a light blue professional dress, not a suit. Both accepted.
That is so subtly purple I see no issue with it.

DO's wear purple more holistically.
OP: I agree with @Goro. I don't understand why half of the interviewees at my school show up dressed for a funeral or a MIB sequel. I like the suit in your picture.
The black suit gospel gets passed down over the years. I know I heard it and heeded it.DO's wear purple more holistically.

The black suit is safe. It’s hard to screw up a black suit and white shirtDO's wear purple more holistically.

It's hard to screw up a grilled cheese sandwich, doesn't mean you should serve it on a first date. Grey or blue are also safe and not nearly as drab.

That’s true, but when someone is young and this is potentially the first time they’ve dressed themselves professionally, most people don’t look to rock the boat. It's hard to screw up a grilled cheese sandwich, doesn't mean you should serve it on a first date. Grey or blue are also safe and not nearly as drab.

If it helps any, I wore a tan houndstooth blazer with a white blouse and black skirt, while all the other female interviewees wore grey/black/navy suits. I was one of the last interviewees, and the staff who facilitated the interview complimented my outfit and said I don’t look boring compared to what they usually see!
Whatever you wear, wear it with confidence!

Thank you all for your advice! I have a lot of different suits, none are very traditional. The other one I am contemplating is a very dark forest green. I have a navy one, but I have worn it to my past 3 interviews and I want to stand out more.

The color of your clothes doesn’t really matter. Last time I checked, the Fashion Institute of Technology doesn’t have a medical school. What’s truly going to set you apart is your ability to relate to people, tell stories, and express your passion for medicine in a unique way. Just wear whatever professional-style clothes you feel most comfortable and confident in.
