My college website has the option of "ordering a transcript" for $5.

Do people typically send this transcript electronically to AMCAS? If so, should it be done before I fill out the primary application (where I fill out the grade in each course).

I'm assuming all of the primary stuff can only be sent at once and not separately.

No, you can send everything one at a time if you please. I would probably get your transcripts in first, so that when you finish your Amcas app, they will have everything in hand and can start verifying.

I can request a transcript online from my undergrad university, but they print it out and send it to AMCAS.

Has anyone had to print a copy out themselves... and had to mail it in?

they want official transcripts sent directly from the institution and will give you trouble for official transcripts that say "issued to student" on them.

.The official transcripts my school gives to us is the same one sent to schools. Transcripts are available to students online but they are literally called “unofficial transcripts” online.
So my registrar would never give me a "student copy" because I could get it myself.

When one orders an official transcript my schools gives it to you in an envelope with the return address " Office of the Registrar etc" on the front and on the back there is a stamp over the flap that says "Transcript Enclosed Not Valid if Seal is Broken" with the Registrar’s Signature and my college's name. The front is left blank for students (or whomever) to put the address on there themselves. They handwrite the too address also. So AAMCAS or the Med school would never know if it came directly from the office or your house since it is the same.

So the question one would have to could ask their college, is there a difference in transcripts when I request it or when you send it out to schools and/or ask AAMCAS how if can they tell the difference?

The exterior envelope of my school's transcripts are the same as yours. What isoprop is getting at, however, is that when you open up an official transcript, you'll find that the inside of the transcript will say whether it was issued to the student, mailed to the student, or mailed to a third-party.

If the transcript was not mailed directly to AMCAS, they'll know about it.

My transcripts were sent electronically. It doesn't matter when you send them (after you have your AMCAS ID, of course) because they don't bother looking at them until you submit.

Not on mine. The only place it says it was mailed to the student in on the envelope, the transcript inside is the same.

I just read on AMCAS's website that once you fill out the primary stuff, then you must print out a transcript request that the school must mail in with the transcript? It didn't sound like you could submit transcripts early? What gives?

(Obviously I'm new to this, huh?)

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. Do we actually have to give the school the transcript request form?

hi,

i just emailed amcas and they said though the transcript form is recommended, it is not a requirement, hence you can send your transcript without out! (hence they can start accepting them may 3rd even though you can't access your app until may 6th or so

The worst thing you want to have happen is a transcript being "lost". It may take up to 2 weeks before they notify you that it's been received. I think you can wait a few days.

Yeah, that is what I believe is what my school does. But I just emailed them to make sure.
I don't know about you all but requesting transcripts at my school is free for life since it is included in our tutition. Maybe people should request one/some for themselves and open one up and see how it looks for themselves.

But good question. I have heard about the transcript request form from AAMCAS. I have heard it may be requested because the form will have/ask for your AAMCAS Id?

So I am wondering if on the transcript request form they ask the school to include the request form with your id in the same envelope as the transcript? Who knows?

this might seem like a dumb question but when you send a transcript from your school, is it sent to the AMCAS website electronically... or do you request for it to be sent to a postal address?

i think if that amcas trascnript form is filled out, it'll help you get verified faster fwiw.

I don't understand what the big deal is. Just have the transcript sent to AMCAS directly from your university. Don't ever have it go through your hands. You do not want AMCAS somehow finding out that a transcript came from you rather than the school. Bad idea.

Include the transcript request form wherever possible (though if you're smart and start getting stuff in early enough, it'll be less of a big deal not to include it).

Yes, the transcript request form goes in the same envelope as your transcript.

bozz, your transcripts are sent to a postal address.

thanks you! 😀 you made it much simpler than it seemed.

That really sucks. My CC totally messed up sending my transcripts to my university. I had to take it in myself.

Please help me!

So I am itching to send in my AMCAS form. Earlier in the week, I visited the registrar at my institution to order my transcripts to be sent. Now that I am ready to send in the application, I realized a glaring mistake--I have two declared minors (Chem and French) that I stupidly declared when I was a freshman that I really have no desire (or time) to complete.

My question is this: do I allow this transcript to be sent, fill out the minor on the AMCAS, and then change it later on? Or do I wait and change all this before sending in my AMCAS? I worry that it's getting to late in the cycle and I should just send what I have, but I really have no time to complete these minors!

Same type of question goes for a class that I am enrolled in for the fall-- will it be a big deal if I drop the class on the first day (I planned on taking it until I got an internship)? Or do I need to send updated transcript forms to AMCAS?

How can one little form be so confusing? 😕 Why can't I just skip right to the part where I get to start studying medicine?
