Haha, you know that pass/fail system actually means that the overall school is more strict than a regular grade system school. Many people probably actually fail classes with 75's on tests. With that in mind, I remember hearing that Harvard has pass/fail in a predental meeting. But you might want to double check my info. 😎 😎 (cool cool)

Gluck, Cheers!

Doesn't really apply to this case, but my friend goes to nursing school and passing requires a grade of 90 and up. The overwhelming majority of students fail.... So just passing can be pretty damn hard.

I know that Harvard and University of Connecticut run on a P/F system. I believe Columbia does as well but it's really not P/F because you can pass with honors and highest honors or something to that effect, so it's still ranked like a grade.

Basically if you're looking for a place where you can slip by and look good on minimal work forget it. You're SOL in that respect.

UCLA is on a P/no P system.

you should check out The University of Phoenix Online Dental College. good luck!

Not exactly. It depends on whom u talk with.
The school says we have a P/NP system.
Then the incoming students will let you know that it is a EPR(exceptional passing), P, EPR(negative exception or marginal pass), and NP.
And the students will say we have a pass now or pass later sytem.

What a cunning sense of humor you have, JakeMUSC 🙄

Guys, I was JUST wondering about this... I had heard about it, and I haven't been looking to go one way or the other in terms of the school systems.... was just curious. Thanks for the info.

ya, they have a weirder system.
first year is all P/NP,
then 2nd year is like UCLA.

Actually UCSF has P/NP the first 2 years and then Honors/P/NP for the 3rd and 4rth year. It definitely cuts down on class competition.

EPR = A to A+
P = C- to B+
MP = D+ to C-
NP = D

P/F = graded system anyways, like everyone else has mentioned. And what's worse...EPRs are only awarded to those in the top 10% of the class as opposed to some classes where, theoretically, everyone can score 90%+ and get A's.

Well at least it seems that competition under the P/F or such systems is diminished, which I like. I don't mind working hard, but I hate working around ppl who try to take you down so they can look better. So in that respect, I think the P/F system might be better!
