I'm a PGY-2 and I feel like my brain is atrophying... I don't have the attention span to come home from work and read a textbook. I'm looking for any good resources, preferably online flashcard or Qbank type, especially regarding psychopharm. Does anyone have any recommendations? I've seen some board prep reviews online but the subscription period is pretty short... ideally I'd be using this throughout residency Also if anyone could weigh in on the NEI psychopharm master class I'd appreciate it! Thanks!

You sound like a normal PGY2 to me.

Don't waste time or money on q banks or flashcards for psychopharm until you're ready to take the boards. NEI is overpriced and unnecessary. Your more immediate concern will be step 3, anyway and you'll know plenty of psychopharm for it due to residency by then.

Consider getting Stahls psychopharmocolgy prescribing guide, read that, maybe get his full psychopharmacology book for reference use also. I also like Sheldon Prescorn's prescribing guide on depression. Spend more time reading journal articles relevant to cases you see and participating in journal club, and do what is assigned in your didactics rather than worrying about trying to read all of Kaplan and Saddock every night. Relax.

I don’t understand your post. He’s a pgy2 so presumably he’s already taken and passed step 3? Also why would he need a ton of psychopharmacology knowledge for step 3? that’s a general medical test not too concerned with psychiatry?

He’s saying experience in residency is enough psychopharm for step 3, which I agree with. Also agree that OP is past step 3 as a pgy-2. Also agree with OP that I want a resource like uworld psych.

I don’t understand why step 3 was even brought up as the OP has already taken the test. I am also looking for the same thing as OP lol a qbank for psych like uworld

Not all programs require Step 3 before 2nd year. Until very recently the requirement was to have taken and passed it by the end of your PGY-3 year at my program (now it’s by the end of PGY-2). Why you would wait that long is beyond me, but there were usually 1-2 residents who put it off until the last minute.
