this is form kaplan workshop quiz
if tow intergers bt -5 and 3 inclusive, are chosen at random, which of the following is most likely to be true....
one of the choice is "the sum of the two integers is even"
as you know, even+ even, or odd+odd will produce even sum. and they explain this (4/9 x 4/9) + (5/9 x 5/9)
isn't that strange? they way they see this problem is that they can pick a number (let's say a -5) and again put it back to the 'bucket' and pick the same one. the point is 'relacement' is possible.
but when i read this question, i think the replacement is not allowed so if you pick a even number and even number again it should be 4/9 x 8/8 not 4/9 x 4/9 ..
what do you guys think?
