Dear SDN,
This past fall semester (freshmen year at college) I made President's list which requires an overall 4.0. This of course means that at the end of that semester I had all A's ( just trying to be as clear as possible). Now I DID make all A's but they were not 100's. They were 93, 94, 96 and so on and yet I had a 4.0. Could someone please enlighten me as to how colleges and particularly med schools look at this. Do medical schools look at percentages or the calculated GPA? Because back in high school, in order to have a 4.0, you had to 100% not just any kind of A.

Thank you in advance

There is no such thing as a kind of A on your transcript(I am not including A- since A- is not an A, it is an A-). The kids in my general chemistry 2 class that got an A with a 76% have the same A that I have with a 92%. That said, if you went to a school that reported percents instead of letter grades it would make a difference, but you don't, so it doesn't.

I apologize, when I said, "kind of A", I meant an A of a particular percentage. So you are saying that a medical school will read it simply as an A and not a, oh lets say, 93? Lastly, my college goes by a 10 point grading system, is that universal now, do ALL medical schools go by that system ( I'm sure that I could search this but I figured I would kill two birds with one stone ( I do not endorse savage acts of killing animals haha)

Thank you

It typically would make a difference in conversion, but in your circumstance, nothing would change.
