I am totally freaking out now because I have had a blood test done for Quantiferon Gold-TB assay and now the health services want me to report back saying that this is "usually due to a blood test result". I have had negative TB skin tests before, with last one done in 02/06. Now I'm worried i might have been exposed to TB within last year. Does anyone have similar experiences and does anybody know anyone with a false positive result, and is there any way to confirm it? I am about to start residency in pathology and I really hope it does not affect me much.

Sorry, but this is not a medical advice forum, even if you are starting pathology residency. Medical issues need to be discussed with your own physician. I also don't know about this test.
