Hey guys-

Ok, so it's common knowledge that the science sections on the real DAT are a bit easier than Kaplan, Topscore, etc, but what about the Quantitative Reasoning? I've always considered math to be a strong point for me, but some of these QR questions (given the time constraints) are a bit ridiculous (which reminds me on a completely unrelated note -- I've noticed that so many people spell ridiculous with an "e"..."rediculous" is not a word, my fellow pre-dents. Grammar lesson free of charge 😉 Usage of "your" and "you're" is another rampant problem, but we won't go there b/c I don't want to sound like too much of an anal jerk, hahaha) 🙂 😀

Too late. Yeah if you read the other threads posted up this week the real test is easier. More simple math than word problems.

It really bugs me when people spell the word "definitely" like "definately." Arghh! 😱

What you gave to all of us unenlightened was a lesson in spelling, which is a part of orthography, not grammar...

Chill out, when you read it, you know what "rediculous" means; and, unless you can completely change this country's educational system, don't bother with your corrections.

Remember, just when you think you're the smartest (richest, strongest, coolest)--there's always gonna be someone better than you.

Wow, what's up with the defensiveness? If you couldn't tell by the tone of my post (and the abundant smilies, haha), I was being chill and half joking around. By the tone of your post, I think you might be the one that needs to chill out. I wanted to just ignore it and not waste my time, but I can't. Dude, I was just trying to help those that make the mistake of incorrect spelling of common words. Think about how stupid someone would look if they wrote "rediculous" in a personal statement. We're not talking advanced English here.

In response to your comment about orthography. Ok, you're right that spelling is orthography, but doesn't orthography fall under the general umbrella of grammar (along with etymology and syntax)? I'm pretty sure it does.

I never claimed to be the smartest/richest/strongest/coolest, so I'm not exactly sure where that comment came from, but don't worry I'm actually quite humble. I'm not some conceited, pompous jerk, but it seems that you think I am because of one post that you took in totally the wrong way on an anonymous public forum. Since when does making a simple comment about spelling easy words correctly automatically make me someone who thinks he's all high and mighty? Just because I can't change the entire country's educational system doesn't mean that I shouldn't try to teach people the right way of doing things. How is that any disservice to anyone? You made quite an ignorant statement there. I think it's worse if you just leave mistakes be because that just compounds the false sense of correctness. So you're telling me that everyone should just leave everyone alone to their incorrect ways just because I can't change the entire world? I disagree. Then what's the point of anyone teaching others anything? Might as well forget the career of a teacher because no teacher is going to change the entire curriculum of the country's educational system. At the risk of sounding entirely cheesy, I don't need to change the world. If I'm only able to help just a few people, then so be it...at least I tried and didn't just sit back like what you're suggesting.

Ah, I feel better. No hard feelings from my side. I'm a nice person, really, but I needed to respond to your post without sugarcoating it 🙂 I hope you have a good holiday weekend. 🙂

Think about how stupid someone would look if they ever used the word "ridiculous" in a personal statement. I am not sure in what context the word "ridiculous" should be used in a personal statement (ridiculous DAT?!, ridiculous dental school?!, ridiculous grades?!, ridiculous professors?!,...) How do you use "ridiculous" in a personal statement?
