4 years ago, I went to a University and my first semester, I didn't do so well. I was placed on academic probation for having my GPA fall below a 2.0(1.8). The follwing Spring, I retook the courses and got a 2.5. After that I decided to go to a CC, and made all A's. So I kind of have that going for me. But the PharmCas website is asking if I've ever been the "recipient of any action"(e.g. disqualification, suspension, probation, dismissal, etc.) by any college or university for unacceptable academic performance)?

I want to answer no, b/c it was one semester and so long ago and I've done better since then. I don't want to say yes, and have to explain, b/c I really dont have a good reason. Does anyone think it would be ok if I say no, and maybe they wont notice that on my application? I was thinking by answering yes, it would make a red flag, when they just might glance at that semester on my transcript and continue on to my good grades. But I dont want my application to be rejected for being a liar

Be completely honest. Integrity is one of the most important keys to being a pharmacist. If your track record speaks different than that one semester you are totally fine. Bottom line do not try to hide, they will find out.

Yeah I know. You're completely right. I feel like it's almost like answering yes to being a felon on an app and once they see that, your application goes in the trash w/o further reading.

be honest! being on academic probation for one semester doesn't mean they'll disregard your app. they'll see that you improved in the following semesters and make a decision based on that. plus, it was only for one semester! I'd be more worried if there was a trend

You would be lying if you said no which would be a much bigger red flag on your application than saying yes... plus they are going to see those grades anyways even though you retook the classes.

I know they'll definitely see the grades I made. But I guess I was thinking if they look at my pharmcas application first, then theyll see that I put I was on academic probation, and immediately put me in the back of the pile of applications. You know, w/o even looking at my transcript and trying to understand. Whereas, if I put no, it wont be a red flag and then they'll go on to my transcript and just be so impressed with my subsequent grades, that they wont even give my bad grades a second thought. That's how I picture it would go in my mind. But you're saying you think they will say, ""hey wait a minute, she put no to academic probation, and its on her transcript!" This is very sad, but I've been stuck on this question for the past month. I have not signed back on, b/c I haven't decided what to do. But everyone keeps saying to just be honest.

It doesn't matter what you think they will do. You were put on academic probation so you check it - There is no choice to be made.

It doesn't matter how long ago it was or how "relevant" you think it is - it is still a part of your transcript.
