i got a questions about interviewing. when you interview, if a program offers both advanced and categorical, do you know if you are interviewing for the categorical spot or the advanced spot, because how are you supposed to rank the categorical vs. advanced, if you dont know which one u think you'll have a better chance of matching into. Thanks

Hmmm...I'm not sure what you mean by "advanced". Do you mean a Prelim PGY-2 spot?

If you are unsure as to what position you are interviewing for, simply ask the program what they are considering you for. Some programs (mine for example) don't interview for Prelim spots in general, so everyone interviewing is doing so for a Categorical spot. Those whom do not match for a Categorical position are then often considered for a Prelim spot should they wish it.
