When are you "complete" at a school? If you have just one more thing to submit such as MCAT scores, do they wait and then verify everything or verify things as they come? And how long does it take after they get everything to be considered complete? Also do they send secondaries out right after they get your primary or after you are "complete?"

Schools typically wait until they receive a primary AMCAS application and MCAT score before sending a secondary to an applicant; some schools take a few days to send a secondary after they receive an MCAT score and primary (those that don't screen), others take weeks-months (that do screen), and others take weeks-months (that do screen).

Once a secondary application has been sent, the school begins a file with all your stuff. They continually add to this file once they receive things like an application fee, LOR's, etc.

A complete file consists of a Primary AMCAS Application (w/MCAT score) a Supplemental Application, an Application Fee (or Fee Waiver), and LOR's. Once an application is "complete", it then goes to the committee that decides whether you get an interview or not.

And how long does it take after they get everything to be considered complete?

Forgot to answer this question.

This depends on the school and how many applications they receive. The ones that receive a ton of applications usually take a while to declare an applicant's file "complete." This can range from a few days to a month or two. You will, however, be notified, typically through a status page or via e-mail.

It is indeed a long process.

fyi, there is a faq section on the top of this forum.

1 & 2) you are complete at a school when you have turned in a primary (AMCAS), secondary, LORs, all MCAT scores, and a check for the fee.

3)It can take a few days or a few months to become complete depending on when you submit your materials. as a general rule, the earlier you submit, the less time it takes.

4)When you finish your AMCAS (primary) and it is verified, it will get sent to all the schools. 1-2 weeks after this, you will usually receive notification to complete a secondary. some schools screen before asking you to complete one, so it is possible to receive a rejection before turning in a secondary.
