I wasnt sure if this thread shouldve gone to the amcas thread bc my question isnt about the app itself.

I am considering retaking the mcat on july 18th. my question is, if i retake the MCAT but submit it early (this week or next) and say on the app that i plan to retake, will i still get secondaries on time or would i not get secondaries until i get the second score???

one of my issues with a retake is that im afraid id be a much later applicant. but if i get all my secondaries out by the time my new mcat scores come back (late aug), i will potentially be complete with each school by the end of august. I also heard you can put no on the app about a retake then notify each school but i think thats sketchy bc i heard med schools will view that uncertainty as a weakness

So, when would i get my secondaries. could this plan really work, to be complete with each school by the end of august?

THANKS!!!

From what I understand you can submit the primary for verifications even if you will be retking the MCAT and still get secondaries from some schools. Schools that screen their applicants before sending out their secondary (i.e. Wake Forest) will wait for the new score to come in, but many others will still send the secondary and not consider your application until you have received the new score. Their are also other schools like Hopkins, Columbia, WashU that have their secondaries already "open" online and anyone can make a profile and start entering thei information. Please someone correct me if I am wrong with any of this.
