Just out of curiousity, what do you all think is a reasonable conversion factor for the purposes of calculating compensation in a wRVU type compensation plan.

Would you consider a conversion factor of 58 dollars per wRVU fair? I have heard of varying CFs but a friend of mine recently got an employed offer from a private practice that bases his bonus threshold using a conversion factor of 58. My own CF is slightly higher, but maybe we are both getting lowballed, or maybe this is a good CF.

Google searches have been fruitless overall so I thought maybe some of the practicing surgeons would chime in.

On one hand, the MGMA mean salary last year was 320,116 (midwest) and the mean RVU production was 6893. That yields pay of 46.44 per RVU. Which would make it more than fair.

On the other hand when I was interviewing, I found offers around $65 per RVU so this may be low.

Largely this depends upon what is meant by "bonus threshold." If your friend is salaried and receiving a bonus for exceeding a certain baseline, then it seems generous.

Hope this helps. Now go back to your risotto,

All I know is from what I heard from my recently graduated chief who got a job, and that sounds like a reasonable rate.
