hey guys
im fairly new to this forum
i am currently a respiratory therapist and i had a few questions abotu pre reqs for DO
here is a list of what i need

General Biology with Lab
General Chemistry with Lab
Organic Chemistry with Lab
General Physics with Lab

Additionally 3 credits of English Composition and 3 credits of Literature are required.

WHat are your suggestions about where to complete these? at a community college? would obviously be cheaper but i will that be looked down upon? are there any DO schools that provide the pre reqs like a few MD schools do?

Thanks!

Check out the CIB. It provides the pre reqs for all DO schools as well as some other helpful information.

I did most of my pre reqs at a community college and only 1 at a large university.
Good luck with your change in career.

You can do some of your prereqs at a community college but you should also do some at a 4-yr university. I believe there are some DO-schools that have a post-bacc program. Use the link posted above and flip to the 2-page descriptions of DO schools. It should indicate whether it has a post-bacc program though I think all of them are for students who have a B.S. or who have already completed the prereqs.

is a bacehlors required
i have my associates degree in science and i was thinkign about gettign my bachelors
for PCOM is a bachelors required?

Most places require 90 units of post secondary work, however the vast majority (almost all) of applicants and accepted applicants have or on track to have, a bachelor degree before starting medical school

as someone else also mentioned, check out the CIB since some schools do have specific requirements. I think MSU and some other school require Genetics, Biochem and Molecular. most schools do require a Bachelors degree before matriculation.
