Do you use flash cards? if so how do you use them? what do you take notes on?

I think a lot of people find it useful to make flashcards for equations, hormones, strong acids/bases, etc.

Basically for more list-type things. You can make them for definitions/concepts, but in my opinion, that's a little time consuming and not as helpful. Personal choice, of course.

Flashcards can be helpful if you have a deficiency in a particular area of basic knowledge (i.e. hormones, functional groups, basic physics/gen. chem formulas). However, my advice is that if you are going to use them, make your own. Writing stuff in your own words and in ways that make sense to you is far more effective than reading something someone else wrote.

Whatever you do, do not fall into the trap of thinking that flashcards alone will prepare you for the MCAT. You must be able to apply those concepts and formulas that you memorize.

I found it helpful to make flashcards mostly because it forced me to write things down. When I write things down, it helps me remember them a LOT better than typing it out or just reading it over numerous times.

Personal preference I guess. A lot of test prep companies tell you not to make flashcards...but it's up to you.
