Hi SDN,

I am the co-president of a secular student alliance (group for atheists, agnostics, skeptics, etc) at my university and I don't know if I want to put this in my application. We had weekly discussion and social events, participated in blood drives, and participated in interfaith discussion. I know that religion is a touchy subject and I don't want adcoms to think different of me just because of this. On one hand, this is one of my main leadership activity and on the other hand, I don't really want to cause a debate. So, do you guys think I should put it in my application?

I think you should put it on there, just don't write anything that might offend someone. It's against the law to reject you on the basis of religion or lack-there-of, not to say that it hasn't or absolutely will not happen.

Yea that is what I figured. Thanks!

Focus on the leadership aspect... it doesn't matter if you were organizing weekly discussions for secular students or Shabbat dinners or bible study groups. Being the leader of a group that has social events and service opportunities (like blood drives) and collaborates with other groups... med schools are looking for people who will take the lead in organizing groups on campus (every medical specialty seems to have a med student group plus there are other groups, too).
