Question about matching

Hi, I have a question about how the match process works. Do you apply for the preliminary year of residency during the final year of medical school, and also try to match for your specialty during the same time? Or do you apply for your specialty during the preliminary year? Thanks.

You apply for it all at the same time during fourth year of med school.

Although...most of the programs I interviewed with included a preliminary year with the program, so, as many answers are...it depends!
