Currently a sophomore at a university majoring in microbiology.
I'm planning my class schedule for next semester and I need to decide if I want to take an easy course load and take the MCATs in January, or take an average/hard course load and take the MCATs in March/April.
If I took an easy course load I would be taking biochemistry, Molecular biology of genes, microbial physiology, and a psychology course. I would have to self study physics 2 and I would have all semester to study and then take the MCATs in January and then work on the rest of the spring semester to work on my application and PS.
The other option would take a average course load next semester. This would entail be taking biochemistry, molecular biology of genes, microbial physiology, physics 2, and a gen ed. In this situation I wouldn't study much/at all for the MCATs and I would start studying in January and for my spring semester I would take a very easy course load and take the MCATs in April. If I did this I might be scrambling for my PS and may not be able to put as much time as I would have liked into it.
So my question is take an easy course load next fall and take the MCATs in January or take an easy course load next spring and take the MCATs in April.
Regardless of what I decide on doing I will be doing a little bit of studying/organizing myself over the summer to prepare for the application cycle. Also don't worry about me taking an easy course load. I have enough credits that I am in the position to do so.
Also don't say I should study and take the MCATs over the summer because I already have a full commitment for all of July and August but I have May and June free.
TLDR: Do I study for MCATs in the fall and take them in January or study for the MCATs in the spring and take them in april.
