I know that it took a couple months as well before being offered an interview. I am a KY resident, so I am guessing that helped. I asked Angel the other day and she said that they have interviews up until April. So I am hoping that they will still be filling spots until then. My interview is this coming Sat. March 1st.

Hey guys I just found out who my interviewers will be this coming Sat. March 1st. They are going to be Dr. Scanlon and Dr. Laurich. Has anybody had them as interviewers or know anything about them? Thanks for any help or advice.

Does anyone know if PCSOM is going to add any more clinical rotation sites soon? Ive heard talk of this.

Has anyone heard anything as far as how full the class is so far? How many seats are still available, and are they still offering interview invites? Every time I call, I get directed to a voicemail that is full, so I can't leave a message checking my status. All I have received is a post card saying that my file is complete and they are reviewing it, but that was over a month ago.

Also, are they good about responding to email correspondance since I can't reach them by phone?

Thanks!

the only thing I can think of is that Angel is out of the office for the week or something. I called a few days ago about my matriculation stuff and she wasnt there. I've heard they are still interviewing some. Keep hope alive.

Same here...I've been wondering the same thing. About when was your file complete at PCSOM?

oh no pikeville does not have a physio staff at all any more

the last two are leaving for TN or WV or somthing

I heard they finally have a patho program and heard they are lossing staff very quickly

my goodness what is happening?

Lossing (verb) Similar to losing but in possibly related to flossing or the idea of being "flossy". Not in conjugation with proper English and may require some derivation for readers...

Has anyone had ANY (interview invite, waiting list, acceptance, etc) from this school? Do any insiders know what's going on, whether they are still interviewing????? Please help!!!

Just to let you guys know:

I just told Angel that I was forfeiting my spot in the class of 2012. So, one of you waitlisters may get an invite soon. 🙂 Best of luck. It's a really nice school... one of my good friends goes there and him and his wife have really liked it.

I was reading on their website that you needed three letters, one from a doctor, one from a science professor, and one from a premedical source. I do not have a premedical source so does anybody know if another science letter will work instead? Much thanks for advice!

I believe that they do accept a letter from a science professor. However, call Angel Hamilton and she'd be able to give you a more up to date answer. I'm sure if no pre medical committee exists then its fine

Even if other people on here have managed to use something else as a replacement for a pre-medical letter, when no such letter is available, I think you should give them a call on Monday, or shoot them an e-mail anyway. Explain your situation, and see what they want. This will not be the first time they've heard this, and they will have a specific answer for you.

Thanks! I always like to get the info right from the source but since it's saturday and I just saw that on their website I couldn't help but post and ask. My undergrad and post bacc university do have premedical committees, but because of my background I chose not to use them. They are a year long process at each school so it is too late now. Do you think that will be ok even though they do exist?

At my school, the "pre-medical letter" is just kind of a cover sheet/form letter. It goes first on interfolio when I sent in packets to my schools. It might save yourself a lot of pains in the *** from a lot of schools if you could get something like this from them.

I don't know where all you're applying, but a lot of schools will want the pre-medical letter, and if you can't get one, they might each require something different in place of it.

My school requires interviews for over a year, and I'm no longer even in school. Plus, they reject many people and I don't have a very good gpa (3.14). They'd probably tell me to pursue something else. Most all schools I'm applying to will substitute two science letters. I know PCOM-GA will let me send a letter from my dean just stating I was in good standing and then let me send science letters as actually letters of recommendation. Hopefully Pikeville will let me do something like that too. I'm sure many people don't have these committee letters also.

Your pre-med committee rejects people? That's horse****.

Tell me about it. If they don't think you are competitive they tell you they can't recommend you. They tell you to do individual letters instead if you still want to pursue your goals. I guess they want this high percentage rate of success or something.

I agree. I really wish there was better communication between med schools and advisors/committees/professors. I've heard way too many professors believe things that were completely wrong. One guy was under the impression that only 10% of applicants got in total. One advisor told my friend with a gpa of 3.5 that she was better off going to graduate school (that was a fun crying phone call to deal with)....This crap is ridiculous. You don't know jack about a person in a 10-15 minute interview. I don't care how well you think you can gauge people.

When I walked into my pre-med advisor's office with a 2.2 GPA, they bent over backwards to help me. They admitted that they had never seen anything like this before, and they weren't sure it could be done, but that they'd be more than willing to help me out with whatever I needed.

This thread has reminded me to send them an e-mail to thank them for their help.
