question about recommendations and transcriptsfor d.o. schools...

Hi everyone, just a few quick questions...
I recently applied to 9 D.O. schools and I have a question regarding the transcripts. I the release to my under-grad institution last week and I havent received a "transcript" received email from AACOMAS. However, after submitting my electronic application, they said they hadn't received it yet. (which is logical since at that point I hadnt asked for a trans. to be sent...) How long did it take you guys for your transcripts to go through?

One other question. This applies for M.D. schools as well, I'm kinda hung up on how to send the recommendations in. Do we tell our professors/ healthcare professional to send it to AACOMAS, or is there a separate website for each individual school? B/c it seems to me like everywhere i read something, they each tell me something different, and I wanted to hear what you guys had to say... Thanks alot for your help and I appreciate it!

can be sent from each of your professors to the individual schools you applied to, NOT AACOMAS/AMCAS. an easier way (for you and the writers), is using a site like interfolio. you have your letter writers send the letter to them, they store them confidentially, and you release them from interfolio to each school (for $5 each). i think the money is well spent to not bother your letter writers to print out 10 copies of a letter, even if you supply them with the stamps/envelopes/etc. plus you know when the letters are released to the schools. if you havent already gotten the letters, you should get on that, some professors can slow down your process!!

it takes AACOMAS approx. a month to process your transcripts and show a GPA.

Thank u for your help supersash!! i really appreciate it b/c I was wondering about it for a bit... The only thing is, is I think I may have dropped the ball on the applications process a bit b/c I applied just a few weeks ago. I was kinda under the impression that we all applied in the fall and not in the summer b/c i was advised to apply in the fall so I didnt really look at it soon enough. How are your apps coming along? Where have you applied?

hey don

i only applied to nycom, i am doing a graduate program there, and am hoping it will help me to be a shoe-in! 🙂 where are you applying? my app was just sent out on oct 8th, because i took a summer class in august, and i had a problem with a class from high school not being sent in (my fault, but sooo annoying). august mcat'ers will probably be sent next week, so i feel we are still in the game!

if you poke around on the board, many of the secondaries for other schools are posted on here, so you can get started on them now, even before the schools get your primary.

SDN has been my saving grace...i had a sucky advisor, and have learned so much from all the great people on here, so be sure to stick around during the process, you will learn so much!!
