Question about Redox Reactions

Just a quick question, but does anyone know if we need to know how to balance redox reactions using the half-reaction method? In the Kaplan 08-09 edition, it has extremely long workout steps as to how to balance it and it seems like that would take quite some time to do considering the time constraints of the test.

I took the pcat in June and that wasn't on there but that doesn't mean it will be left out for the Aug Pcat.

honestly as far as the test, and getting through it with you pants on, goes i would use the book to learn it and then on test day if the question comes just skip it and save if for the some of the last ones that you know will take you some time. you only have just a few seconds for each question.
