First of all, I would like to let everyone know that I was offered an internship next Spring with the OT I've been shadowing in the office of students with disabilities! Well, I feel like my question is pretty straight forward: Can I count my internship as shadowing hours? Of course I'll put in my resume that I had an internship with an OT, and she'll probably write my letter but since my internship is about 9 credits, I will be working with her 450 hours that semester! (37.5 hours = 1 credit). I currently have roughly 43 hours - 33 with hand therapist and 10 with OSD OT, but I'll shadow the hand therapist for a week once I come back home (21 more hours) and I'll shadow the OSD lady all of my fall semester (probably 13 more hours). I am also looking at a nursing home, a rehab center, and hopefully a pediatric center. My goal is to have almost 600 hours shadowing between this summer, next summer, and the next two winters too.

Most schools only require around 60 hours of shadowing hours, but the more the better. If you will already have 150 hours besides the internship, it won't matter if the internship hours count as observation experience. It will just be something that looks awesome on your resume either way. If you really want to know just shoot an email to the admissions offices of the schools you are considering applying to. However, I would think it would count. You will be able to write a great essay with all of that experience! Good luck.
