Hey guys,

For those of you out that did will on the orgo section of the DAT, I was wondering what your study method was? Did you mostly focus on memorizing the reagents and each reaction under the different conditions? For those of you that did well using the Destroyer - how did you go about studying the orgo section and making the most out of your time and efforts with this section? Most books and most professors always stress understanding the concepts, which helps, but it didnt work all that well for me in my orgo classes. So I was thinking about leaning towards memorization and perhaps gaining that understanding along the way...
Any feedback would be greaaaatly appreciated!

Thanks!!!

memorize all rxns in kaplan, know the concepts surrounding MP and BP's, understand SN1vsSN2 E1vsE2, know nomenclature, know NMR, know basic lab techniques... this should score you at least a 20 on the DAT for organic. i studied organic for about 2 hrs total and scored a 20. and no, i didn't take organic the semester before...it had been 2 yrs. organic is the quickest section to study for.

good luck.

2 hrs? Truly amazing! I like you to be my tutor.😀

The two hour guy is surely streching that a little bit. You have to remember that you need to have a good base to start from. Yes you need to memorize reactions, but you need to understand WHY they work. You can do well by just memorizing rxns but you will miss the problems that are different. And thats what seperates the men from the boys (as it were)
