Hi! I used to be pre-med but now I am going for pre-OT. I had withdrew from my organic chemistry class and lab, so I was wondering how much those 2 W's would matter when I applied to OT schools? I was thinking about retaking it this summer and I have about a week left before the class starts but I don't want to have to retake it if I don't need to....any advice? Thank you!

I never even took chemistry in my bachelors and I start my MOT in August. You need to figure out the schools you will apply to and make sure you are doing the pre-req courses to get into the MOT program. Considering this they likely wont mind the two W's since it's in chemistry which is not a typical pre-req course some may require it most will want Anatomy and Physiology I and II. It's most important to obtain good grades in the pre-req courses, and have a good overall gpa and gre. They also require recommendation letters and completed observation hours with an OT you can do this at a hospital, nursing home etc..

I had two "Ws" on my transcripts as well. I think the most important thing is to explain them in your application essay. Make sure they know you didn't withdraw because the courses were too hard or you were trying to avoid getting a bad grade.

I had a W on a math course I found out I didn't need it as a pre-req for Bay Path College. They wanted statistics so I took that in my bachelors instead of the other math course, and they didn't mention the W at all.
