hey guys,

Iam getting anxious about applying for this whole residency stuff, I have only my step1 score available, which is 218/90 and waiting for the step2 result, which will come in about mid-october, I have my CS on 1st october, I am a permanent resident. So I was wondering is it ok to wait till mid-october to apply for IM residency spot as most of the programs require step 1 n 2 score to be eligible for an interview or apply to as many programs as possible now?

Guide me plz!

There isn't a 100% answer to this. Some programs might process your application without the Step 2 score. Some will not. Those that don't will simply filter your application -- once your step 2 score is available, they will then review your application.

If you think that your Step 2 score will be much better and help your application further, then it's probably best to wait until you get your score back. Mid October isn't terriblly late.

If you think your Step 2 score is likely to be about the same, then you could apply now and those programs that want your Step 2 score will review your application after scores are available.

When you say that programs require Step 1 and Step 2 for interviews, it's important to know whether they mean only Step 2 CK or also CS. Since you're taking CS in October, results will not be released until December. In that case, you'll be pretty late (but not completely out of the game) for this year.

Thank you for an early reply. The programs require ck for the interview.Hummm...
I guess i will wait till the result comes out.

and one more question, what is a good number of programs an img should apply to?
As i have seen ppl applying to like 100 programs.

Ice Dude, you might want to check with the programs if they expect you to be ECFMG certified. If so, then you need I, II CK and CS for certification.

uhh since when do programs require ck for interviews? considering most people take that test late?

I checked man!
I only applied to some who donot want an ECFMG certificate to be eligible for an interview but sure do want ck.
