Question for the students who attended: were most people set on going to Hopkins or were some people unsure? Just want a very general impression of how much waitlist movement there'll be.

To lyle, daffodil, and my fellow waitlisters, hang tough, we'll be finding out soon where we are on the waitlist!!!

I think a lot of people there were deciding between Hopkins and another school...so there is definitely hope. In Dean White's intro speech he said that they had admitted somewhere around 160 (if my memory serves me right- maybe 180) and that they usually admit a little over 200 to get a full class...so definitely keep the hope and let Hopkins know that they is your first choice.

Thanks for the info, DSMD, if I can call you that OK, so this means that at the very least, they'll take another 20 off the list!  Did Dean White mention anything about how many people are on the waitlist?

I don't think that he said anything else about the waitlist...most of his talk was detailing what a diverse and interesting class we were. Sorry I don't have more info - good luck.

hey

dean white said at the revisit weekend that, as of april 6th, 165 students had been accepted. which means that there are a good 35 more of y'all who will be accepted...!

i would say about half of the people i met there were actively considering another school besides hopkins (a lot of potential harvards, upenns, columbias, etc.)... so there's tons of hope...! good luck, and i hope to see you at jhu in the fall!

swar

Thanks dsmd and swar for the info. I hope to be a valuable addition to the interesting and diverse incoming class of '02!

35 sounds encouraging indeed...

To those of you who went to the second look weekend - did they give you more info about financial aid?

When I was there, our tour guide (a 4th year) said she was only 60K in debt, and one of the first years told us that with his aid package, that Hopkins was going to be cheaper than attending his state (NY) school. Any truth to this, from what you know?

I wish they would have waited a couple more weeks to have their second look.... I would have liked to meet my potential class-mates

Does anyone know whether Hopkins is requiring Need Access for financial aid apps this year?

thanks for all the encouraging words! i'm looking forward to the day we can have a thread celebrating acceptances for all of us! (looking forward very impatiently, i might add.)
