How competitive is it right now? Is Podiatry still getting alot of people getting sick of trying to get into dental school? Aren't most schools not accepting DAT scores anymore? Just curious.

Hi. Nihon jin desuka? Just curious.🙂

Some schools are more competitive than others, gernally this is a product of class size and reputation. I don't think that podiatry is "sick of people trying to get into dental school" b/c they'd probably have to be sick of people trying to get into MD programs too. Podiatry is not as well known so it is to be expected. What is important is that the people that chose podiatry, chose it b/c they enjoy it not out of desperation.

As for the DAT, 1/2 of the schools still accept it.

"wo" or "ga", in this sence, "ga" emphasizes the verb. I studied japanese grammar for many years and lived in japan for a couple. Although it's not "grammatacially correct" it is frequently used in colloquial japanese. But, I'm not japanese and I've been wrong many times. So, how about podiatry?? Is Midwestern the best podiatry school?

How come pod schools accept the DAT? I mean thats hella convenient but whatever. I've been reading through these pod forums alot today. I have the nastiest ingrown toenail.

It's important to have a backup, podiatry, dentist, physician, pharmacist, psychologist, history professor-as long as I get called "Doctor"😉

Not all schools accept the DAT. The original reason was b/c the MCAT was only offered two times a year. If you applied to pod school late, like spring time. You could not take the MCAT b/c they were too late to sign up for the MCAT. So the decision was one of convenience. Since that is no longer an issue 1/2 of the schools will only accept the MCAT. I always tell people to be weary of schools that are not increasing expectations on their applicants and students. Convenience should not be included in deciding your future. If it is a lot more convenient to apply to local McDonald's and Walmart's then the few professional schools.

I think that it is getting more competitive as time goes on. I know for this year some schools were filled earlier on. As for where I go at Temple, the admissions folk told me they rejected 36% of the applicants this last year and still filled the class. They are trying to let in only those with better scores and GPA's. I am sure other schools rejected a good amount of their applicants too as the standards are raised.
