Is applying to a lot of schools look bad in your application? What is a good number of schools to apply to?

I had a dean of admissions at one dental school tell me that 11 or 12 was a good maximum number, and that the average student applied to 9. He said when they see applicants who applied to 50 dental schools, they won't even look at the application because the student clearly did not pick their school for specific reasons. That being said- this is just one dean of admission's opinion, not what all of them think.

depends on ur stats... if ur below average, aim high (15-20 is considered high).
8-12 is good if u have average stats
bellow 8 is you got sick stats

Applying to alot of schools, from my personal experience is NOT bad whatsoever, it means you really want to get in and your simply increasing your odds by aiming at many schools. Some interviewers might even question your commitment if you didn't apply to enough schools.

I applied to 18, and I was very honest about it in every interview. Didn't effect me negatively whatsoever.

Or, in the absence of nice stats, a sign of desperation.

Unless aadsas has changed their policies, other schools can't see where you have applied until late in the cycle (April or may)

If you've got the money to apply to 50 schools, I think the guy can buy his way in instead 😀
