In Uworld theres a question on diastolic heart failure and it says diastolic heart failure decreases outward ventricular elastic recoil but it also decreases ventricular compliance. I thought recoil and compliance were opposites? or is this just in the lung?

Can someone please explain?
Thanks!

Recoil and compliance are not opposite concepts. Think of it this way: if the wall of the ventricle is stiffer than normal, it won't expand normally to accommodate the blood. If it doesn't expand normally, how could it recoil normally as well?
