I am looking to go to Shenandoah's Pharmacy School. IF AND ONLY IF you have been ACCEPTED into this school for this upcoming year or in the previous years, please let me know of your:

1. Undergraduate and science GPA
2. PCAT composite and individual scores
3. Work experience (if any) relating to pharmacy.

If there is any other information about yourself that you feel is noteworthy in Shenandoah's decision to select you, please advise.

Also, if you know anyone who has been ACCEPTED with lower scores or GPA, let me know. Did those people make up for it in some other way?

Congratulations and good luck in Pharmacy School!

As a current student there, I will tell you that your interview weighs extremely heavily in the admissions process. Someone with a 4.0, 99 PCAT that blows an interview will not get in.

Shenandoah of course looks at your GPA and PCAT (for those above the minimum/average), but they also look at the whole person and circumstances involved.

Good luck to you.

Just watch...there's always some idiot that answers a question like this saying that he/she got in with a pcat score of 99 and a 3.9 GPA, as if that is of any help to us.

I was accepted to Shenandoah:

my pharmcas gpa is 2.96 although my actual gpa is 3.1

my PCAT was over a 75 percentile, that's all I will say for that.

I have done research in a pharmacology lab for 2 years and have also been working in a retail store for almost 2 years

Hope that helps...

I was accepted to Shenandoah for 2006. My GPA is 3.5, PCAT score - 93 composite.

I have a bachelor degree in Biology.

I have experience of 2 years in retail pharmacy, 1 year in clinical (hospital), and am involved in many extra curricular activities.

Hope that Helps.

FutureRxGal, thanks for the info. I am looking to apply for the 2007 year, and will have completed all pre-reqs at the conclusion of this Spring semester. I have a 3.67 undergraduate GPA (Economics) and 3.76 for science courses. I will look to get a pharmacy tech job too shortly.

Since I have not received my PCAT scores yet, I can tell you that I feel pretty good about it with the exception of the Math Section (thanks to Calculus). What should I be shooting for? Also, if I secure a high enough score on this first try, should I try again? Note that I will be applying to Shenandoah during this Summer so hopefully I can get interviewed early this fall before the influx of applications come in (2007 Class).

From attending the Open House previously, I can tell you that I am very impressed with your school. Dr. Kirkpatrick, Mrs. Clowe, and all of the current students who volunteered for the Open House were all nice. In fact, I will attend the next Open House this February. Honestly, I am so interested in Shenandoah that I am not considering any other schools at this time.

Is there anything in particular I should do in preparation for the interview, and how is it structured? I want to show everyone how interested I am in coming to Shenandoah without being too direct about it (I don't want to go anywhere else).

Thanks and good luck in Pharmacy School!

Which open house did you attend? I was one of the students at the one in November.

As far as your PCAT, obviously the higher the better, but the average accepted is 75. If you don't score a composite of 75, then it's probably best to retake it. My PCAT score was an 84 overall. Your GPA is very good, so just keep it around where it is.

It's good that you are planning to apply in the summer. That is what I did the year I applied, and I had a interview the first week they were conducted (December 2004). However, this year the interviews began in October, I'm guessing due to the amount of people who applied the year I was accepted (I think around 1200 applicants for 75 spots). Applying early is definitely to your advantage.

It sounds like you are well on your way as a prospective student. The only advice I can offer is to keep your GPA around where it is, and yeah, get some pharmacy tech experience or even volunteer/shadow. I had over 6 years experience as a tech. Any experience is beneficial in my opinion. 🙂

🙂 Umm... I had an interview in October... and was accepted.
My gpa is a 2.8, my pcat 86, I had one year of pharmacy experience. I am also completing my biology degree. However, i did apply VERY early.... 🙂

did not get ACCEPT in Shenandoah: Reject in Jan

-GPA 3.75
-PCAT 17%
-1.5 years pharmacy experience
-Dean's list evey semester + scholarship award
-volunteer 4 places
-work two jobs

So PCAT is everything at Shenandoah!

I seriously doubt the PCAT is everything at Shenandoah. A 17th percentile on a PCAT is extremely low. The PCAT is supposed to assess your long term learning. You are way below the average. A 3.75 at one school may be a 2.0 at another school so GPA's can be a mixed blessing. The PCAT can be employed to see how the student fits among the average of other students.

When did you take the PCAT? Did you reserve enough time before you applied to retake the PCAT incase you did badly? If so they why didn't you retake it when you knew it was so low? If you waited until the last minute and didn't have time to take it again that could suggest you procrastinate.

Now I am NOT saying you are a 17th percentile type of student. Perhaps something happened the first time you took that PCAT. Perhaps you need to prepare better for the exam, or go in better rested. Perhaps you are a very good student but have anxiety issues that need to be resolved before you retake the exam or before you go to pharmacy school.

But something is amiss if you have a 3.75 but then get a 17 on the PCAT. That is likely what worried members of the admissions committee. It is up to you to resolve the issues if you want to be accepted.

Take it as a challenge. Go retake the PCAT and do well.

It would be miraculous for any school to accept someone with a 17 PCAT. The only thing you can do is to retake it or apply to schools that do not require PCAT.
