1)Gilbert syndrome
Chronic hemolytic conditions such as HS or sickle cell disease is a risk factor for gallstones. So if indirect hyperbilirubinemia due to chronic hemolytic conditions causes gallstones, would Gilbert syndrome cause gallstones as well? I have never seen Gilbert syndrome listed as a risk factor for gallstones.
We usually educate Gilbert syndrome patients that Gilbert syndrome is a benign innocuous condition. But shouldn't we warn them they are susceptible to gallstones?
2)Cholecystectomy
Does cholecystectomy increase the risk of intrahepatic stone formation? (Since it dilates CBD and intrahepatic ducts)
3)So if a Gilbert syndrome patient receives a cholecystectomy, does that mean that this patient will highly likely to develop intrahepatic stones or CBD stones in future?
