Quick back story, I went to a private school for a semester and while I got excellent grades at the school, I also racked up a significant amount of debt to the school in the process.

I ended up paying most of the debt off - actually have paid more than what was initially borrowed thanks to exorbitant interest rates - and was expecting to knock out the little that was left with my student loan check for my summer courses, however I came to find out that all student loan checks for my school have been delayed until the mid-fall. Because the debt won't be paid off in time, the private school will NOT release my transcripts.

My question is: Have any of you had any experience with leaving a transcript out? Been part of an admissions committee - as I know is the case for med students at certain schools? Heard stories of people failing to admit certain transcripts?

Please do not take this as an opportunity to admonish me on money management or issues of morality.

Thanks for any and all responses.

EDIT: Currently filling out applications. I am considering leaving the school out of my application altogether.

This question is probably best suited for the pre-DO forum. Regardless, withholding your transcripts can void acceptances. I wouldn't do it, I know you are in a crappy situation but doing things the wrong way could land you in a bad place.

What makes you think you can get away with this type of omission?

Dumbest idea ever.

This will get moved to Pre-Osteo.

Anyways, AACOMAs specifically says that situations such as this are not considered for Transcript Exemption so they will need it.

Now if you leave the whole school out, remember that StudentClearingHouse does have a record of all the schools you've ever attended. This could come back in the future, bight you and you'll not only be kicked out/loose your license, but you will never enter a US school again and you can forget about getting a residency even if you go out of the US. On top of that, the Financial Aid office will know that you've attended this school since you did take out loans for it, so hiding it is almost out of the question.

So pay your bills and get it sent. Whether having something like that hidden is worth the risk of your whole career is up for you to decide.

DO NOT completely omit any courses taken or transcripts. That is probably the easiest way to have your acceptance rescinded or to even be dismissed if they find out after the fact. DO NOT do that. I doubt a black mark like that will easily be wiped away in almost any profession, let alone ending your dreams of becoming a physician.

If I understand you right, do you need these grades to get your app verified (i.e. they either aren't considered "in progress" or are pre-reqs)? If so, you'll have to either take out a private loan, ask someone for money, ask your school for another option like installments or a payment plan or something, and get your transcripts in. Schools tend to be pretty lenient if you communicate with them. They may have a payment option that you just don't know about. Explain that you want to pay the bill and can do so in installments (or something) if that will let them release your transcript (ask them about that at the end).
