Do Medical schools only count the two GPAs (bcpm and others)? what about science courses that are not biology, chemistry, math or physics, are these courses count as others and not together.....I'm sorry if this question sounds redundant or silly, but i'm a little bit confused on this but i read somewhere that schools count two gpa's but they are classified as science and non-science.....

science GPA, and overall GPA.

there is no such thing as non-science GPA that is taken under consideration. But it's part of your overall GPA, and looking at your science and overall GPA it's easy to figure out how well you did in non-science courses.

EVERYTHING is either science or non science as defined by the application service you use. AMCAS counts biology, chemistry, physics, and math. AACOMAS counts only biology, chemistry, and physics. If it is one of these, it is probably science, although not every course that you might think is one of these is regarded as such by the application service (eg: nursing courses). Also, although it may be offered in a discipline that is not regarded as science, it might be considered so if the course title is specifically designated as science (eg: I took an epidemiology course that was offered in the health department at my school. Health courses are generally not considered science, but epidemiology is specifically mentioned by AACOMAS as a science course, so it counted in my science GPA.).

Here is the list of courses as they are currently defined by AACOMAS:

that is where i get a little confused, so anything that is classified as science will be counted under the "bcpm" and all others will be counted as "others", i got a little confused when it says "enter classes under bcpm that are under biology, chemistry, physics, and math only" .........thanks

Yes, all others INCLUDING science and non-science will be under cumulative GPA (aka: overall gpa)

didnt know that...thats interesting. i still dont know why AMCAS counts math under science.

correction: I took a look at my AMCAS GPA. there is a section called AO (non science). But med school focus on BGPA and Total (cumulative=overall) GPA...
