Hey guys,

I just have a few questions about sending out applications:

1. Do I get my school to directly send my transcripts..or do I include them in my application package??

2. Do I get my professors/optometrists to send my letters of recommendation directly...or do I include them sealed in my application package??

Oh yeah and one last question....how soon after you right the OATs do the schools get your scores?? since its all computer based do they just get them automatically right away?

umm first of all...where are you all applying...because all three of the schools I applied to had different preferences as far as the answers to your questions. You should probably just call the schools you are interested in and ask them...that's what I did.

Oh they are all different? then I will call and ask for sure! i just thought itd be the same...but Im planning on applying to alot of schools :S...probably NECO, PCO, SUNY, Pacific (maybe), NOVA, and ICO. Does anyone have suggestions on where else to apply? I was looking at SCO but im from canada and havent heard much about tennessee so not sure if id want to live there....

Each school has a different policy. Definitely give them a call! And I think it takes a few weeks for the schools to get your scores.

Application fees get expensive, I would recommend only applying to the schools you really want to go to.

I applied to Pacific, and they strictly want you to mail your recommendations and transcripts all in one big envelope together. All letters of recommendations and transcripts also need to be sealed/signed.

The criteria is different for each school. Their websites usually details on how they need your things to be sent. I've seen many schools ask for your transcripts be mailed directly from the school or letters of recommendations directly from the recommenders. If this is the case, call the school a week or so after to make sure they've received your information. I've had a school not receive my recommendation even though my professor sent it out. The only thing I could do was to get another copy and get it resent.

As far as the OAT scores go, a good idea is to fax the schools your score report as soon as you take them. That way they can have that to look at with your application while in the meantime waiting for the "official" scores to come in the mail. In my experience, it expedites the application process a lot more. Good luck! 🙂

hmmm wow that is a really good idea!!!! i think i will do that..cuz i want to take them as late as a i can..like early sept..but i also want to send off my application sept 1st...but then i was worried they wouldnt get my score for like 2 more weeks...so faxing it is a good solution..thanks!
