I'm currently a 2nd year vet student and I was hoping to get some advice on internships and residencies. I'm interested in (eventually) doing a Large Animal Internal Medicine residency assuming someone will accept me. Most of the programs I've seen have been mixed animal internal medicine, but I think that would be fun. I've been active in a couple clubs, and I'll become director of one next year. My concern is the GPA/ class rank that I need to have to have in order to have a fighting chance at being accepted into an internship/ residency. My GPA is at about a 3.5, and I'm in the 50% of my class. I'm currently working on bringing my grades up, but I still have a month before I'll know if any of my effort will pay off.
I'd love to hear from anyone that has experience with the matching process or that ended up specializing in Internal medicine. Thanks!
