I'm in the early stages of looking at med schools and found a lot of contradictory info. I think it's possibly due to the difference in countries. Hoping people here can help.

This is how I understand it so far, and so I can avoid any mis-information please correct any wrong statements.

To my understanding.......
As soon as a person graduates from "high school" or 12th grade or year (same thing where I am from) they can apply and be accepted to a Romanian Medical Uni.

It will take approx. 6 years after the start of classes to finish med school.

The the end of that 6th year is when you actually become an M.D.

You will also be considered a General Practitioner at the same time.
***If this is incorrect how many more years of schooling to become a G.P. after becomeing an M.D.?***

After your 6 years of med school you still have to be accepted in a residency program in the area where you choose to practice.

Now some questions....

In Romanian med schools what year do your "clinicals" or "rotations" or "clinical rotations" begin? How often are they scheduled during the year and how long does each rotation last?

I noticed in a couple of schools websites classes aren't scheduled during summer. Does anyone know if any of the schools offer summer classes, or are there
rotations that can be done during done during that time?

Does each school have a different "schedule" or "calender" with regard to classes, exams, vacations, etc., or are all the universities on pretty much the same timeline since the Ministry of Ed oversees them all?

This person, I chatted with on one site, claims they are a G.P., an M.D., have a master's degree, and are presently working on their PhD. Yet they are only 30 or so, still in med school and about to begin another rotation.

Has anyone ever heard of this? In my country a Phd and M.D. are 2 entirely different things and really aren't something you can get at the same time. Or is this person not being entirely truthful??

I'm asking because I thought, maybe in Romania, an M.D. and a PhD are obtained together, or it is easier to get your Doctorate over there.

Thanks very much for any answers. (In advance)
