hey,

I am now a PhD student in basic medicine. I want to go back to my dental career after graduation. And I am preparing for Part I now, planning to take the test next Febrary or March. I am just wondering when is the application kickoff time every year for most of dental schools. Could I apply next year (2008) and get into the school, if lucky, in the year after next (2009)?

yes you can...if you are aiming for year 2009 and plan to give your part 1 by march you will have plenty of time.

One more question. I am holding F-1 visa now. Would US dental schools accept those who are F-1 holder instead of green-carder? Do I have to change my status before I get into the school?
