Questions to ask

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
For thoses that had their interviews, what questions did you ask the school?

i asked about community outreach that they do, and how fully they are involved with the community. i also asked if he had any advice for our pre-optometry club on campus (my undergrad), as we are relatively new and looking for creative ways to help students and our community.

i asked about the externship programs and how they worked, also i asked a lot of questions about the clinic ( like when do you start getting into the clinic, how many patients students see, etc). I also asked about tutoring services and notetaking services and if those were provided for students. Also, it's important to ask what a normal day is like for an optometry student... just a few questions i had for the schools i interviewed at

You should be asking some questions that YOU really want to know. While the above posts are good questions, if those things aren't as important to you, you are wasting your time. Look at it as your chance to interview the school and find out if it's the right school for you!

I asked about the student life. Why the interviewer chose to be in academics rather than practicing. I asked him about the impact of new schools opening up, whether or not he thought they were necessary.
