AMCAS ask about the occupation of parents. 1 one my parents is currently unemployed but held various sales jobs and managerial jobs (McDonalds and Walmart). How do I answer this?

I'm thinking of putting "currently unemployed; formerly sales and manger"

I'm sure many parents have been through a variety of jobs, so I don't know if I should just "average" out the jobs they had, or write in, or simply put unemployed. Also, it seems a bit insensitive, but there are no plain "unemployed choices". The closest is "not applicable".

Sorry for bit of trivial question

I put not applicable but I'm curious about what others would suggest.

I would put what you suggest @sat0ri. For our purposes that information is really used only to get a sense of 1) whether you have any physicians as parents and 2) your general socioeconomic background to put both you and your application in context. I would be less concerned about putting what is strictly accurate and more focused on putting what is representative. If your father is still actively job seeking, I would just put whatever he considers to be his career regardless of his unemployed status - unless his unemployment is significant in some way.
