I have an interview for a research tech/assistant position at a prestigious research institute. I may not know I actually get the job until next week.

My question is: should I submit my app now or wait until I get the job then submit so it will be on my primary? Also, if I submit now and get the job by the end of the week, could I tell AACOMAS to update it before they send it to schools?

OK, maybe it wasn't such a short question, but I had to get you guys to check it out some how. Thanks! And best of luck to all who is applying!!😀

Well, you haven't worked there yet, so if you list it on your application, you'd have to say "zero" hrs of participation, which won't do much for you and will cost you an extra weeks delay.

Once you submit the primary, you can always send update letters directly to the school to be added to your file. The fact that you got a job isn't going to make or break your chances of getting a secondary. Activities don't come up much until the secondaries and interview anyway. At most, adcoms only skim that portion of the primary to get an idea of whether you are involved. If you really want them to know what you've been up to, send them a resume w/ the secondary.

Putting that you have done research for "0 hours" might have a negative effect. I would leave it out. :luck:

Thanks I really appreciate the reply. That does make a lot of sense. Have fun at ATSU-Mesa!
