My mom's friend is in charge of a biomedical vaccine research facility and i've been going in to work on various tasks that the team with actual degrees do. sorry if this is a dumb question, but is this considered to be a research ec?

My first assumption is that if you have to ask if your doing research, you probably are not.

Talk to the researchers and ask if you can help out. Even if its trivial lab work it gives you an in with them later.

no i'm not, i didn't really think it was research for this reason. i really just do whatever they need me to do, even if i don't even understand the underlying concepts on some of the things. what can i classify this as? volunteer clinical experience?

Are there patients involved? If not, then it is not clinical. I would say that you could classify it as volunteer research exp. It gets your foot in the door and I'm guessing that's how a lot of people started. The only suggestion I can make is to have a meaningful description of your job.

No paitients are involved yet, our vaccines are just entering some rodent phases, will be a few months to a year until they reach a human. volunteer research exp sounds like a good description. thanks.
