Hi!

I have been trying to find a pellucid answer, and I tried looking at the programs websites to see if they had any information but came up short. SO, here I am, asking for your guys advice, or knowledge.

I am trying to schedule my GRE for the last possible date that will still be on-time for when the application is due.

Say the application is due August 17th, when is the last date that I could take the GRE but still have it in on time? I have read articles saying six weeks, but I have also seen 10 days..

If anyone has had experience with the latter, please share how it turned out. I want to maximize my study time!

Thank you!!

I would definitely take it sooner rather than later but that’s not your question. Do six weeks because it can take a while for it all to be sent.

I would say that I would try and take it before hand just in case you don’t do well and you want a chance to try your hand at it again. This coming from a person who took it right before the deadline and just barely scraped by. I would not recommend doing it that way.

I took my test on May 11th and received my scores on May 19th. My deadline for my app was May 15th so I basically did it as late as possible. If you do that you have to be confident that you can get the score you want which fortunately I did. But if you want a good lookover the test than take it earlier enough with room to potentially take it again if need be (which is a 21 day gap), expensive I know but it could make the difference.

Luckily, I just took the GRE a few days ago. I had a feeling this would happen for me, so I gave myself a nice cushion. Hopefully there won't be a huge delay between the test itself and receiving official scores, because of the new cycle starting.

I appreciate the feedback, thank you!

What was the time between your test date and your application date? I took the GRE a few days ago, so I'm trying pushing off the second one!

Ask the school.
I retook my GRE on the due date (would be Aug 17 in your case) and reported my Verbal and Math scores to the school myself (GRE showed me the scores right away). So I emailed the school saying I took GRE on *Aug 17*. My scores are ***. My school did not require essay score though. But I believe GRE report to school should provide the date when you took the test, so Aug 17th should be the last day you can take it. But better confirm it with your school.
