Quick Question about Texas Dental schools

Out of all 3 schools which one would you all think is the easiest to get into? becaue i live in Texas and want to stay in Texas, i got to UT-austin,freshmen and just because i am at a good school, does that raise my chances?

no it doesn't raise your chances at all. More likely they will prefer ppl from El Paso than you, unless you have a great GPA. So keep it above 3.5 and you won't have a problem of getting into any of TX schools that is if you score alright on DAT, and apply early.

What is your major?

There is not one that is the easiest. When it is time to apply, I suggest that you apply to all three.

Both guys are right, you never know what attributes each school looks for in an applicant. All three schools in Texas are good, and no one is easier to get into than the next. Apply to all three and if you're fortunate enough you may have your choice to pick among two, if not three.

well im just hoping i have chance at houston-cause its my home town, and Baylor- because i heard some great things about the facility, but how many times do people acutally apply before they get in, like just amoung us texans?

You know I only applied one time and got accepted this year. My DAT certainly wasn't the best, but everything else on my application was solid. I think as long as you have a well-rounded resume you will have a good shot of getting in on your first try. Many people don't get in the first time but are back for Round 2 with a much stronger application the following year. I noticed you're a freshman and that's great that you're already considering these types of issues. The earlier the better as far as getting prepared.

yeah with so many students applying too all schools, its just kind of scary to know if i would get in or not. My main goal is to stay in texas either way.

btw, if you really want to increase your chances, transfer to Texas A&M.

We have a really good pre-dental advisor and we have the best football team in the state and basketball is getting better every year.

I think you got that backwards. Best basketball and football getting better? And who cares about Tech, with Fran holding us back, that statement is false as long as he is there!

Seriously, if you're thinking about it this early, chances are you're the kind of person who takes care of business and you will do just that. You'll have great stats, apply early, have all your letters and transcripts ready and you'll be fine. Take advantage of the HPO at UT. They are a little more focused on pre-med, but if you beat their door down and go to their presentations on applying, interviewing and personal statements, it will help a lot!

I'm talking about this year. Tech, UT, and A&M went 1-1 against eachother. What makes the difference is that Tech had 4 other losses so that knocks them out. A&M blew out UT by 5 points in Austin so that puts them on top.
