So I am getting a standard letter of rec (not a SLOE) from an EM Department Chair. I did research with this person, and the letter will focus on that. I did also do an away rotation at the same program, though I did not work clinically with this letter writer.
My question concerns ERAS' optional letter writer designation. There is an option to select the following:
- "This LoR Author is a Department Chair where I completed my clerkship training. Group departmental letters must be signed by the team composing the letter."
I am unsure whether to select this or not. Is it incorrect for me to select this designation for this letter writer? Again, he is technically the Department Chair at a program I rotated at. It is just that the letter will focus on research rather than on my clinical rotation in that clerkship.
Thanks!
