Lucky ducks. Still no love from UM, UVA, Wake, Pitt.

If the number of dates left to choose from is any indication, Pitt still has a number of dates open, so may see more waves. Wake may be nearing the end though. Regarding Umich & UVA, I have no idea![]()
Probably gonna be relatively quiet this week and especially next week. Any program that hasn't granted interviews by now might as well wait for the Dean's Letter. The big one that would appear to offer at least some dates pre-MSPE is Hopkins, but nothing yet....
Haha I can join the community prelim program rejection club now 🙂
you got rejected by a prelim surg program? that"s surprising
yieeeeldddd prooooteeeectttttttt
Idk, this happened to be one of my top choices (st lukes-roosevelt).
they're not mind readers. they see a research nerd with high scores from Wisconsin and are like "yeah right, let's not waste our time, next."
my first interview is tomorrow and I don't feel prepared at all ughh
Are you guys trying to go to all the pre-interview dinners? They're hard to make if you're trying to group interviews sometimes!

so far, only 2 out of 15 programs i have interviews with even have a dinner. One of them is my home institution which makes even that one redundant. But yeah, I'll try to go.
Interesting, every single program I've been invited to has had a dinner. How many programs are you planning to interview at?
I'm thinking of skipping my prelim dinners.
The ones I've been to thus far all end up like this:
"So what are interested in doing in Medicine?"
-I'm actually applying to Radiology, I'm applying for a prelim spot here.
".......Cool, I'm going to go talk to our categorical applicants"
Repeat x every person in the room not the PD or prelim residents.

I feel like a drug addict going through rehab, having good days and bad days. This past week has been bad, not hearing a peep from anyone. Then today, the TY & radar gods have been kind to me. Man, I don't know if I can take this rollercoaster of emotions much longer; each time I check the AM invite thread and see it's been updated, I start having palpitations![]()
So what would you guys say are "red flags" for a program? I feel like on my aways that everyone is on their "best behavior" so I never know if I'm getting a honest POV of the pgrm?
Night float?
Pimping during lectures?
Grad placement?
Ultrasound tech coverage?
Old PACS?
Just trying to get a feel now that most ppl have done at least one away
2012 Candidate
Midwest
That was me last week, then I've gotten 3 in 24 hours.Crickets...
me too! so excited.
I've gotten 0 invites so far, any advice?
DO applicant
Top 5% of class
Step 1 245+ step 2 265+
Clinicals: 50/50 honors/hp
Some minimal non-rads research, 0 publications though
Issues: No official rads rotations yet (scheduled for early 2012) and no rads LORs yet, both bc changed my career choice late in app season
ECs: bunch of volunteer, a few leadership positions, etc
Applied to 20ish progs in Midwest, obviously now thinking I need to add a bunch more across country
Thanks for any advice
Im a third year DO student. Im not applying for obvious reasons, but I am confused about the prelim year or TY for rads programs. Do you apply to the prelim and match, then at the end of the prelim year apply to the rads program and match. or do you apply to both the prelim and rads program and match both at the same time.
