I apologize right now for this thread-you all will probably hate me for asking this stupid question.....But, why don't I go ahead and do it anyway!!!(kicking myself)
I'm a little older with enough experience to know its going to be rads or bust, and I'm looking at a week to decide whether to go to michigan state or georgetown for med.-basically already did an M1 year at g-town in that (special) masters program- but I guess that doesn't really matter here. I'm just asking, all personal preferences aside concerning location and all that crap, do you think the so called prestige, name, or connections of g-town is worth throwing down another 80-100k-?
I wish it didn't matter to me so dam_ much, but going to a good research steeped residency program is a goal.
Looking at the two match lists, there is no comparison, but when rads is concerned, MSU looks like it does all right for itself.
anybody with some sweet wisdom about this?

Go to MSU

As long as you do well on boards, grades, letters of rec, research/EC's it won't matter. Prestige only matters for very highly ranked schools. If you had the choice between MSU and a top 10 school it might be wiser to go to the top 10 school. Otherwise save the money- the difference in prestige between MSU and georgetown is minimal.

MSU actually has some very good faculty in radiology in Lansing. If you really want to do research in radiology, there is opportunities there and you'll be able to get to know the radiology profs very well.

Go to MSU, study very hard and do well in classes and USMLE, do research, and be likeable. Then you will get into radiology and save yourself $80-100K. I know alot of things I could do with that amount of money.

Thanks for the replies
no love for georgetown huh?
it is overpriced, no doubt...but being two blocks from John Kerry's house would have its advantages-a little charmin in his oak tree, maybe some nike flip-flops on his lawn...ah yes what fun, but I guess 80k is enough to fly out to DC every weekend for 4 years and do it up anyway-

John Kerry has 5 houses, most people worth a billion dollars do

Its so wrong that ol' Johnny Forbes K. has that bankroll. First Teresa cuts the oil line on her husband's (Heinz)'s plane engine, and collects the money that he worked his whole life to earn, then Forbsey marries Teresa for the real estate buying loot. He's like a gold-digger squared here. Politics aside, its a little messed up you've got to admit.
I saw his secret service entourage in front of his 5 mill$ g-town house the other day though, (recognized it cause it was in Newsweek) the way those houses are right on the sidewalk, I could have knocked on his door literally five feet to my left flank-weird.
I have to quote outkast to express the other side of my feelings toward Teresa:
"Lend me some sugar, I am your neighbor."
