i've heard of these fellowships

how are they different, and how are they alike?

i'm assuming radiosurgery can be done after a neurosurgery residency? i think mpp mentioned only pitt has it within the neurosurgery program.

but what are the pros/cons of both?

They are completely different. One is treating with radiation. The other is treating and diagnosing through blood vessels. Neurologists, Radiologists, and Neurosurgeons all do interventional neuroradiology. Radiation oncologists do radiosurgery.

Most residency programs have some radiosurgery and some interventional neuroradiology as part of the regular neurosurgery training (you will be exposed to this in residency).

Pros and cons depend on what you want to do. Indications for treatment with interventional neuroradiology (e.g., endovascular coiling of aneurysms) and radiosurgery are increasing.
