Rain on Interview Days?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Well, there are these new gadgets out there called "umbrellas" and most of the med school buildings/hospitals have a thing called a "celing" that keeps the rain out.

That should do the trick.

wear those big yellow clod hopper-type rain boots with your suit ... they will make you seem unique.

why would only freshmen forget umbrellas....does the weather notify upper classmen that it is going to rain.....or does rain fall some other direction other than down.......maybe it only rains on you if your a freshman because nature know that your new.....cmon get a CLUE..

What happens if it rains on your interview day? Aren't most of the tours walking tours?

Actually I've been wondering something similar to this... I'm not originally from someplace where it's possible to walk to get anywhere.

How do northern women get to an interview, or work, or wherever they're using the subway to get, on a rainy day in hosiery & heels without getting their feet soaked? Or do they just accept the soaking?

Wear a pancho and constantly move about so you make that plastic crackling noise and bug everyone. :meanie:

There are better things to stress about regarding interviews than whether it will rain or not... BUT, if you think it might (check weather) just pack an umbrella, steer clear of pink ones with purple polka dots though, may make ya seem too flashy. Maybe we n eed a "what color umbrella to interviews" thread to go along with the suit thread?

Rain is nothing. If the weathermen predict rain, bring a raincoat or umbrella and stow it in the admissions office coatroom. Sleet and snow are more of a plague for interviewees during the winter months. Inevitably someone will want to try and look classy by not bringing his/her heavy jacket, boots, gloves, etc to a cold weather locale. But honestly, nothing makes you look dumber than not knowing how to dress for weather.

I see a lot of female commuters in weather-appropriate shoes (sneakers or boots) and then they change to heels when they get there. It's a good way to protect your feet and your expensive shoes.

Sigh... when I first read this thread, I became convinced that it would rain for my first interview. Now that's 2 days away, and looks like Philly can't dodge the rain. Definitely not the end of the world, but one more source of stress... Especially since I'll be taking public transportation...

So I guess all my umbrellas are out. I don't have any plain umbrellas. I have a black and white one with a Hawaiin flower print and I have one that is light blue with an underwater theme, so it's got fishes and sand and all that stuff. It's actually very cute. I say nothing wrong with a fun umbrella, it brightens up a drab and dreary day.

I don't really care, I was just being sarcastic, but I guess it didn't come across so well in my post. I like my umbrellas. They keep me dry and they're cute. I for one have no problem walking around with a flashy umbrella.

Hmm, I think I'm going to go out and by a banana colored suit and a tie with rubber duckies on it. That way on rainy days, my suit will match my umbrella. Adcoms will like me better because I'll look like I have way more foresight than the other applicants!

I thought that if it rains, your marriage will be very happy.

Besides, why not wear one of those bright yellow raincoats? I suppose the temptation to say "quack quack waddle waddle" is way too great... 😀
