Hi -- this is a bit of a random question, but I'm sure there are plenty of people who have attempted or are attempting graduate programs before medical school.

*How can I find out the average GRE score for various graduate programs at each school?

---
Also, while we're talking about the GRE, do medical schools care if I score well on it?

I think a lot of programs don't even report average GRE scores because they don't weigh them all that heavily (providing you've met a certain threshold) and don't want to imply that you've got a good shot if your score is in the range for their admitted students. My understanding is that graduate programs outside of medicine and law are much less of a "numbers game", but I might be generalizing from my experience when I was thinking about applying to grad school in linguistics. Perhaps other grad programs are different. I know GRE score ranges at some graduate programs at some universities can be found in the US News and World Report's annual survey of colleges and graduate schools.

I don't know for a fact, but I really doubt that medical schools care how you scored on the GRE.

Thanks. My sister's applying for literature grad programs; that's the main reason I asked. It'd be helpful to know what she needs to score on each section to be competitive.

I took the GRE a couple of years ago myself and happened to do well; figured med schools wouldn't really care, but thought I'd ask anyway.

GREs aren't really a competitive thing like the MCAT is.

Shoot for 1000 or higher. Math scores tend to be high, so the real feat is just to beat 500 in the verbal section.
