I wasn't either. Very young, and shall we say, INTENSE. But some people love it, and VD may be one. She won't know until she sees it for herself. However, even if she decides that she doesn't want to go there, that's beside the point. I'm hoping VD will get a scholarship to wherever she wants to go. And in order to do that, the school she's wanting to go to has to be convinced that they can only keep her if they offer her money. This is how the game is played. If a school knows that statistically you will almost certainly come there even without any scholarship money, they won't give you anything. Ideally, you want to get a few schools bidding for you.
So I should apply there to just to see what kind of money they throw at me or ideally, what kind of money Baylor would then throw at me.

But I think you are humble, because to me, a humble person is someone who acknowledges their strengths/gifts and at the same time is very thankful for them. I have seen you make posts on several occasions where you specifically go out of your way to stress the fact that you have worked hard to achieve your goals. But nobody, no matter how hard they work, can achieve what you have without having a natural ability to pick up on things very well mentally. When others who may even work harder than you do see someone who can achieve certain things that they cannot, it just naturally tends to make people envious or upset. Somone who was not humble wouldn't really care to take time to make honest, thoughtful posts that make others feel comfortable, when they could just tell them something along the lines of "i'm awesome, sucks to be you." I just think in general, you are a proud, yet greatful person, and it reflects in what you write. At least that's my two cents, I could be wrong 🙂

I think the same goes for many people who post in this thread
👍

Tried that. Refresh doesn't do squat unless you are already in the thread. Hence why this thread is the only one I've posted in today.

Yeah, I pretty much just hang in this thread anymore. 😀

The path forum used to be psycho busy with posts. Now I bet we average less than 5 new posts (not whole threads, just new posts) a day. 🙁

I hope it picks up again when the new M4s are doing their applications.

VD, come to Vandy! As a current undergrad, I can't say enough good things about this place. I'm definitely hoping for another four years here on their dime.

I guess I sort of did a similar thing with residencies bargaining for research funding and time. (Michigan gave me 3 years of guaranteed funding in any lab on campus. 😀 )

I don't think you should take it in August either, S&M. There will be some programs that don't like you because of your MCAT score. (I got grief from some schools for my UG GPA in spite of my MCAT score.) That's just how things are, and that's why you aren't only going to apply to one school. I think if you apply broadly, and you're willing to look at some of the other options that we talked about, you will make it. :luck: Do you have your list of schools yet?
Yup, I'm definitely prepared for that. I haven't finalized the list yet...these past few days have been crazy trying to get ready for this last minute canoeing trip this weekend. But once I get back, I'm spending the evenings next week finishing up my essays, reading through MSAR and websites, and deciding on my initial list of schools (limiting myself to 12-15). The only school that is a definite for me right now is University of Pittsburgh. I can always add a school or two if something comes up, but I'd like to submit as soon as possible.

see, i told you you're the best HO we know! 😀

(and a super smart doctor/researcher 😉)

Dude, my licensing credentials haven't come through yet. 😱

There was a hang up a while back that they had my last name misspelled but that was supposed to get fixed. 😡

I think it is going to go on the list.

Revised list:
Emory,
Northwestern,
Vandy,
Tulane
Wake Forest,
Dartmouth (??)

(added to the list I already have of course.)

Mother ****er. I hate premeds.

This guy just told me I was a waste of a good MCAT score because I wasn't interested in research. 😡 😡
As nikki said ... he's jealous. 👍 You have a ton of other supporters. Numbers and mdapplicant pages can't tell your whole story 😉

That's so funny what that guy said to VD. I hear sometimes that I "wasted" a spot because I WANT to do research.

beary! 😀

today was just a lecture day. how is residency treating you?

Whoa!! I speak of you and you appear!!! 😀

I remember that you posted that today was lecture day now.

Residency is ok. I'm having some nerves about the transition as I'm sure you are too. (Somebody was just telling me though that the hardest transition of all is going from junior to senior resident! I guess I can see that, though I think all the big ones (M3, intern, senior resident, attending) are hard.) I just want to really start doing something. We're still doing orientation basically which is just making me more and more nervous because there's all this stuff thrown at you.

I'm starting on micro/virology so want to study that stuff some. I worked with viruses in my Ph.D. so maybe that will help me a bit.

I can't see any threads that have been started since 10:47 this am. When I click on an existing thread, I can see the new posts.

I posted about it in Site Support a few minutes ago. Of course, I can't see that thread, so I will have no idea if anyone responds.

I have cleared my cookies and all that jazz. It's the same on IE and Firefox, and it doesn't matter if I'm logged in or not.

😕 😕

I must use SDN differently than most people. If I want to see if something is new in this thread, I just click on this forum in my favorites and see if there's a new post. If so, I click on the thread. Same thing with path and the MSTP forum.
